"What can bold lives from the past teach us about navigating an uncertain future, from right here in Illinois?"

"Fuller Visionaries: From Illinois to the World" explores the legacy of two remarkable relatives: Margaret Fuller, a groundbreaking 19th-century writer whose 1843 journey in Illinois inspired reflections on nature, Native history, and justice; and her great-nephew Buckminster Fuller, a pioneering futurist who patented the geodesic dome, built his career in Chicago and launched a global design revolution from Southern Illinois to work for solutions for “100% of humanity.”

From her impoverished childhood in the Smoky Mountains to international stardom, Dolly Parton has exceeded everyone's expectations but her own. The day after her high school graduation, she boarded a bus for Nashville, but record executives turned her down. When Dolly finally got her foot in the door, her talent and focus catapulted her to the top of country charts, the pop world, and movie stardom.

Shunned by many in Nashville who saw her ambition as a betrayal of her country music roots, Dolly became the target of death threats, lawsuits, and a judge who threatened to throw her in jail, but she came back stronger than ever.

A Look Ahead: December's Pick

1941. Leningrad, a once magical city besieged by war, cut off from aid, buried in snow. A city full of women desperate to save their children and themselves ... 2000. Loss and old age have taken a terrible toll on Anya Whitson. At last, she will reach out to her estranged daughters. In a halting, uncertain voice, she begins to weave a fable about a beautiful Russian girl who lived in Leningrad a lifetime ago... Nina and Meredith sit spellbound at their mother's bedside, listening to a story that spans more than sixty years and moves from the terrors of war-torn Leningrad under siege to modern-day Alaska. In a quest to uncover the truth behind the story, Nina and Meredith discover a secret so shocking, so impossible to believe, it shakes the foundation of their family and changes who they believe they are.
