Happy August! We hope everyone enjoyed our Summer Reading program, and maybe even found a new favorite book or an author you'd like to read more of.
This month we have some more fun activities and crafts for everyone to enjoy. Lively Library Bingo, as well as Afterschool Hangout, will resume in a few short weeks, so make sure to check out our calendar of events below!

Next month's pick is "Blood of Hercules" by Jasmine Mas

Afterschool Hangout
Thursdays at 4 pm starting August 20th
Anyone 2nd grade and up can swing by the library after school for an hour on Thursdays for a fun activity with new and familiar faces! Miss Erin and Miss Maddi are so excited to see everyone back in the library soon for another great school year!

Discussing: "Moloka'i" By: Alan Brennert
Young Rachel Kalama, growing up in idyllic Honolulu in the 1890s, is part of a big, loving Hawaiian family, and dreams of seeing the far-off lands that her father, a merchant seaman, often visits. But at the age of seven, Rachel and her dreams are shattered by the discovery that she has leprosy. Forcibly removed from her family, she is sent to Kalaupapa, the isolated leper colony on the island of Moloka'i. True to historical accounts, "Moloka'i" is the story of an extraordinary human drama, the full scope and pathos of which has never been told before in fiction. But Rachel's life, though shadowed by disease, isolation, and tragedy, is also one of joy, courage, and dignity. This is a story about life, not death; hope, not despair. It is not about the failings of flesh, but the strength of the human spirit.

Read, Eat, Play: Library Road Trip

May 22nd - September 11th
To complete your Road Trip and be entered into a prize drawing:
Collect stickers or stamps from your home library (the library that issued your library card) and at least 9 others for a total of 10 different libraries.
When visiting any library, please be sure to take your Passport to the main circulation desk to receive your sticker or stamp.
Don’t forget to return to your home library and drop off your Passport by September 18th to get entered into their prize drawing!
