Gather with special guests, fellow visitors, and library staff for a live, simultaneous nationwide public reading of the Declaration of Independence with your neighbors and across the country. The nationwide reading will take place at 5 PM sharp! Plan to arrive early.

About the Event
To mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of the United States, the maroa Public Library District will host a public reading of the Declaration of Independence.
The Declaration was approved and signed in Philadelphia on July 4, 1776, and was first read publicly on that day. Printed copies were then distributed throughout the colonies, and on July 8, 1776, the Declaration was read in cities and towns across the thirteen colonies, announcing the emergence of a new nation.
Refreshments will be served beginning at 4:30 PM. The Declaration reading will begin promptly at 5:00 PM.
