One in Four Illinoisans Have Something Waiting for Them Better known as I-CASH, Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs currently oversees more than $5 billion in cash, stocks, jewelry and other items in need of being reunited with their owners. By law, Treasurer Frerichs is the custodian of unclaimed property and is obligated to required to return it to its rightful owners or their heirs no matter how long it takes. Over the last decade, Treasurer Frerichs has returned more than $2.5 billion worth of assets to constituents.
